Using GPS

If you are using a phone to help you navigate, you can enter the address of 3 Mountain Meadow Lane, Thompson Falls, MT. Please verify the directions are taking you near the intersection of Montana Highway 200 and Montana Secondary Highway 471. Highway 471 is also referred to as Prospect Road. Cell service is spotty, and it may affect your navigation.  Older GPS units will not likely guide you to the correct location.

Below are directions to help you find your way.

Coming through Thompson Falls from Plains

Stay on Hwy 200 past the Rim Rock Lodge and cross the river. Take a left on MT Hwy 471 ( also known as Prospect Creek Road), go south to the first right turn, which is Mountain Meadow Lane, and immediately make a left-hand turn into the shelter property.

Coming from Trout Creek before you get to Thompson Falls (approx MM-50)

Stay on Hwy 200 just past the Tires Plus Tire Center and take a right onto MT Hwy 471 ( also known as Prospect Creek Road), go south to the first right turn, which is Mountain Meadow Lane, and immediately make a left-hand turn into the shelter property.

Coming from Spokane or Coeur d'Alene

Winter Directions IMPORTANTThompson Pass is closed between Idaho and Montana in the winter, typically from late October to April or May. GPS may not reflect the closer. You can view the Pass's status by visiting the MDT site at https://www.511mt.net/

Go through Sandpoint. Stay on Hwy 200, and follow Trout Creek instructions above.

Summer Directions — Take I-90 east through Idaho until you reach Exit 43 Kingston Exit, turn left for 22.5 miles (Pritchard), and look for a right turn to Thompson Falls via the Thompson Pass. Follow to the top of the Pass, you will enter Montana, and stay on the highway for another 22 miles. Before reaching Highway 200, look for a chain link fence on the left side of the road, turn left to Mountain Meadow Lane, and immediately turn into the shelter property.
